Before becoming self-employed I was taken on full-time as lead
web designer at Harrods to bring the production of their website
in house. Sales weren't great and outsourcing was too expensive
for them. I redesigned their website to increase usability of
the online store, and to bring it in-line with their advertising
campaign. Once this was done they could start promoting it in
their offline marketing. The increased usability and increased
publicity for the website resulted in an unprecedented increase
in online sales; in 2002 we quadroupled our sales target!
