Success Story
A former client of a print firm I used to work for was needing an annual report design. Immediately a bid for this job was submitted from the firm. I was told that this was a very "big job". Something that dwarfed our core staff's yearly salaries combined. I was asked to lead us to victory. Apparently this client went with another designer previously and the print firm wanted them back. Here was my chance! A year out of college and leading a team to show them what designers are made of.

So I prepared with much anticipation for the meeting with the client. I gathered my student portfolio. I rummaged through old sketches and notes in anticipation of any questions and presentations I may be faced with. I also found old designs done by the print firm for this client by previous art directors. Next scouring the web turned up lots of valuable info on the client's purpose and past activities. I felt confident and prepared to march forward undaunted.

So when the big day arrived and it was just me and the principal sales rep in front of the client. The sales rep went through services ranging from embossing and die-cuts to white ink on designer vellum. Now it was my turn. I passed around my portfolio and some of my work from the print firm. They were impressed and the deal was sealed with firm handshakes. That annual report became their most successful distribution. My team and I received a personal thank you from them because of the overwhelming positive feedback from their stockowners.
