The Solution:
What this widget lacked is a distinct branding. Something
users could relate to and become familiar with over time.
So I created a new identity that could easily be adapted
to use as the dock icon as well. Dashboard has a style guide
which requires a set horizontal width to the dock icons so
I created a rounded corner format to flow well with the other
icons found in that environment.
I also cut back on the real
estate the old widget GUI was using and created a more
horizontal linear format for the
interface. It allows the user to nest it more easily among
a plethora of other widgets they may have open at any given
time.
I look forward to seeing how users react to the new
look and feel.
AFTER:

Alina's feedback:
Von did a superb job of bringing PodcastShuffle.com's widget
identity, user interface, and icon alive. Not only does it
now have a more intriguing and lively look, it fits well
with the other Dashboard widget icons. I love the look of
the logo as well. It integrates the the "P" "C" and "S" together
into a form that suggests the flow of a broadcast.
