Background:
The client, Computing Made Simple, came to us frustrated
and a bit angry about graphic designers because she had already
paid someone to design her logo for her. The previous designer
had placed a bitmap graphic in the middle of some vector
artwork so when she submitted it to vendors to print, it
was rejected because her
logo wasn't entirely vector which made it difficult to print.
She needed the logo to work as a one color and also as her
original two color logo without reinventing the wheel as
she had already branded herself out in the community. She
didn't want a brand new logo, but wanted to tweak what she
already had.
We had to assure her frustrations about our competency in
design work, as she had a bad taste in her mouth left by
the previous designer.

Solution:
She liked the mouse in the design, but again, the bitmap
wouldn't work, so we took the mouse and presented a few ideas
in vector format that we thought weren't too far off from
her original logo. The one chosen was one that is
still recognized in the community as her same company, but
the logo would work and reproduce for her no matter where
she submitted it.
The client was thrilled with the re-design, and it didn't
upheave her marketing altogether. We were successful at just
changing it slightly to work for her, yet not enough for
anyone to not recognize her colors, mouse and prominent swoosh.

Alina's Feedback:
Given the perimeters of the job, Maryann was
highly successful at impoving the logo's reproduction capabilities,
legibility and professionalism while maintaining the same
look and concept. The redesign is much easier to read and
understand and is so much cleaner. I'm sure her client and
the printers in the area thank her!
